Carmody is a neighborhood in south Lakewood. The city’s comprehensive plan lists it among Lakewood’s south neighborhoods, along with Lasley, Kendrick Lake, Thraemoor, Bear Creek, Academy Park and Grant Ranch, in the area between Sheridan Boulevard and Kipling Parkway south of Mississippi Avenue. Its best-known landmark is Carmody Park, with the Carmody Recreation Center at 2200 S. Kipling Street. The Cleanest House cleans Carmody houses, condos and townhomes. About the neighborhood

Lakewood’s plan says Carmody and neighboring Kendrick Lake were developed in the 1960s and 1970s, mostly with single-family homes on smaller lots. South Lakewood as a whole is mostly single-family, with some higher-density housing along Iliff Avenue, Jewell Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. For a cleaning crew, that usually means single-family houses on residential streets, with some townhomes and condos closer to the busier roads.

The neighborhood’s public anchors sit next to each other on South Kipling:

• Carmody Recreation Center has a 50-meter indoor pool, an outdoor pool and spray pad, gyms, indoor pickleball, and cardio and weight areas.
• Carmody Park has a pond at its north end by the rec center, playground and picnic shelters, and six outdoor pickleball courts.
• Carmody Middle School, at 2050 S. Kipling, is a Jeffco Public Schools middle school for grades 6–8 with a STEAM focus.

A note on the spelling

This page used to be listed under the misspelling “Carmedy.” The neighborhood, the park, the rec center and the school are all spelled Carmody, and older links to the old spelling now redirect here.

Cleaning around pool and pickleball schedules

With a rec center, pools and a middle school nearby, many households here keep busy schedules. The things we plan for in Carmody homes:

1. Wet towels and chlorine. Swim bags leave damp spots and a chlorine smell in laundry rooms and entry benches. We wipe the surfaces and dry-mop the floors.
2. Multi-level stairs. If your home is a bi-level or split-level, the short flights of stairs get vacuumed and wiped every visit.
3. Kid and pet traffic. Family rooms and kitchens take the most wear. We rotate deeper tasks like baseboards, cabinet fronts and light switches so they don’t pile up.
4. Garage entries. If your family comes and goes through the garage, that door and the floor next to it get attention every time.
