Ruby Hill is a roughly rectangular southwest Denver neighborhood. Mississippi Avenue is the northern boundary, Jewell Avenue the southern one, Federal Boulevard the western one and the South Platte River the eastern one. (The neighborhood association extends it south to Evans.) It’s named for the hill itself, about 5,390 feet high and overlooking much of south Denver. The park on the hill

Ruby Hill Park covers much of the eastern part of the neighborhood and is busy all year:

• Levitt Pavilion Denver opened in 2017 as an outdoor concert venue with room for about 7,500 people and is known for its free summer concerts.
• The Ruby Hill Rail Yard terrain park turns the slope into a free urban spot for sledding, skiing and snowboarding in winter.
• The Ruby Hill Bike Park, about 7.5 acres, has a slopestyle course, dirt jumps, pump tracks and a skills area.

To the south, Sanderson Gulch Park follows a creek east to the South Platte, with a trail along the water. The South Platte River Trail runs along the neighborhood’s eastern edge. Apart from the park and the gulch, Ruby Hill is mostly single-family homes, with businesses along Federal Boulevard. The neighborhood had about 10,800 residents as of 2015.
