A neighborhood of parks and parkways

The best-known landmark is Cranmer Park, between East 1st and 3rd Avenues. Its sundial and flagstone terrace look west toward the mountains, and the terrace was restored in 2020. Smaller Robinson Park is a neighborhood favorite for dogs and kids. Burns Park fills the triangle where Colorado Boulevard, Alameda and Leetsdale Drive meet. The tree-lined 6th Avenue Parkway, part of the parkway system designed by Saco DeBoer, runs from Colorado Boulevard to Quebec Street along the north side.

Hilltop’s streets hold established single-family homes in a wide range of architectural styles, many of them sizable, plus a smaller share of condos and townhomes near the edges. For cleaning, a few things tend to matter:

• Multiple levels. Stairs, landings and finished lower levels add time. Tell us how many floors you’d like covered each visit.
• Detailed surfaces. Built-ins, trim, glass-front cabinets and older tile reward careful hand-wiping over a quick pass.
• Park traffic. Mature trees and walks to Cranmer or Robinson bring leaves and dust inside, so entries and mudrooms get extra attention.

Schools, synagogues and Holly Street

Hilltop’s schools include Graland Country Day School on Clermont Street and Carson Elementary and Steck Elementary in Denver Public Schools. Temple Emanuel is also in the neighborhood. Everyday shopping clusters along Holly Street, and Colorado Boulevard and Alameda carry most crosstown and RTD bus traffic.
