Sloan Lake is a west Denver neighborhood centered on the lake of the same name. The Denver Public Library’s neighborhood guide gives its boundaries as 29th Avenue on the north, 17th Avenue on the south, Federal Boulevard on the east and Sheridan Boulevard on the west. The city of Edgewater is just across Sheridan. The Cleanest House cleans Sloan Lake houses, condos and townhomes. Apartment units aren’t part of our service.

Scheduling tip: we recommend biweekly visits for most homes around the lake, and we also offer weekly and every-four-weeks service. Call (720) 660-4990 or request a Sloan Lake quote.

The lake and the park

Sloan’s Lake Park covers about 290 acres, making it Denver’s second-largest park after City Park. Today’s lake, about 177 acres, joins Sloan’s Lake and the smaller Cooper Lake, which were connected by channels built in the 1930s under the Works Projects Administration. The lake has no tributary streams. It gets its name from Thomas M. Sloan, who received a homestead patent for the land in 1866. There’s a popular legend that Sloan dug a well and flooded his own farm, but historians consider it doubtful.

  • Trails around the lake are used for walking, running and biking, and the park also has tennis and basketball courts.
  • Fishing and boating take place on the water.
  • The Dragon Boat Festival draws thousands of visitors each summer.
  • Penny Island has an osprey nesting platform built in 2014, and birders and photographers gather there in spring.

From 1881 to 1914, the lakeshore was home to Manhattan Beach, described as the first amusement park west of the Mississippi. It burned in 1908 and was rebuilt as Luna Park before it closed.

A mix of old and new housing

Homes range from 1920s brick bungalows to new modern builds. More than two-thirds of residents own their homes, which is high for Denver. After St. Anthony’s Hospital closed and was torn down south of the park, the site was redeveloped with a 12-story condo tower, apartments, restaurants and shops. Around the neighborhood, many older houses have been replaced with townhomes and new single-family homes.

These two types of homes need different care. Bungalows can have original woodwork and small bathrooms, with dust collecting in corners and along trim. Newer builds tend to have large windows, open kitchens with big islands, and glass or metal railings that show every fingerprint. We plan each visit around the home in front of us.

What regular visits cover

For the week-to-week routine, start with recurring residential cleaning. We suggest biweekly, and you can also choose weekly or every four weeks. There’s no every-three-weeks option. If you want a detailed first pass while you’re living there, choose a one-time deep clean. When a home is empty before or after a move, book move-in/move-out cleaning. We don’t make promises about deposits or inspections.

We use our non-toxic cleaning products in every home. They are lower-fume and mildly scented, not chemical-free, and we make no health claims. Businesses near the lake can request commercial cleaning, which is month-to-month, quoted at any size and always non-toxic. We don’t accept same-day or rush jobs.

Lake-season logistics

On festival weekends and warm evenings, parking near the park fills up. Most recurring clients choose a weekday morning or midday slot. If you live in a townhome with a shared drive or a tuck-under garage, tell us where our crew can park without blocking a neighbor. Also mention if your condo tower requires a building sign-in.

"It’s been a delight working with the team from The Cleanest House. Excellent communication and quick responses are appreciated, they also showed up on time (early) with a crew to handle our deep clean appointment, working around some family we had in town and leaving our place clean and we noticed it especially in some tough to get areas we discussed on our initial call."
