House Cleaning Services in Capitol Hill
Capitol Hill is the Denver neighborhood bounded by Broadway, Downing Street, Colfax Avenue and Seventh Avenue, just southeast of downtown. The Colorado State Capitol sits within it, and it’s Denver’s most densely populated neighborhood. Historic mansions, condo buildings and apartment buildings share the same blocks. The Cleanest House cleans Capitol Hill condos, townhomes and houses. We don’t clean apartments, even though they make up a large share of the neighborhood.
Where to start: biweekly visits suit most Capitol Hill homes. If you’d like a different pace, weekly and every-four-weeks visits are available. Call (720) 660-4990 or request your Capitol Hill quote.
Mansions, then flats, then condos
Capitol Hill started out as the neighborhood where Denver’s elite built elaborate mansions, and it’s also where Foursquare architecture took hold in the city. After the Silver Crash of 1893, new construction shifted toward apartment buildings, and the Colonnade, Alta Court and the Hamilton still survive from that era. The average building here dates to around 1920, and some of Denver’s oldest single-family homes are in the neighborhood.
After World War II the neighborhood became mostly renters, and later it attracted artists and musicians; Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg both lived here at one time. More recently, many older apartment buildings have been converted into condominiums. That’s where most of our Capitol Hill work comes from: condo owners in converted walk-ups and vintage buildings, plus owners of the houses and mansions that remain residential.
Life on the Hill
- East Colfax Avenue, the northern boundary, is known for its music venues, including the Fillmore Auditorium and the Ogden Theatre.
- East 13th Avenue has long been known for independent and alternative shops.
- Commercial activity also runs along 8th, 13th and 14th avenues, Lincoln Street and Broadway.
- Many historic mansions have been converted into offices, especially in the northwest part of the neighborhood.
Because the neighborhood is built mostly around multifamily buildings, parking is tight. Many older buildings have little or no off-street parking.
Cleaning a vintage condo well
Older condo buildings bring particular challenges, so we plan for them:
- Access first. Tell us about the buzzer or lockbox, the stairs or elevator, and whether street parking or a loading zone works best. A clear access plan saves time on every visit.
- Old-building surfaces. Older units may have vintage tile, heavily painted trim, built-in cabinets or wood floors. All of these need careful handling rather than harsh scrubbing.
- Small kitchens, heavy use. A compact kitchen that’s cooked in daily builds grease fast. Recurring visits keep stovetops, backsplashes and range hoods under control.
- City grit. Street dust drifts through older windows. We wipe sills, trim and baseboards in rotation.
Services for Capitol Hill condos and homes
Our recurring house cleaning is scheduled biweekly by default. You can choose weekly or every four weeks, but there’s no every-three-weeks option. If your condo needs a thorough first round, book a one-time deep cleaning while you still live there. For an empty unit before closing or before new occupants arrive, use move-in/out cleaning. We clean the agreed scope but don’t guarantee inspection or deposit results.
We use the same non-toxic process in every home: lower-fume, mild-scented products, not chemical-free, with no medical claims. For offices in converted mansions or along Colfax, our commercial cleaning is month-to-month, quoted for any size and always non-toxic. After-hours visits are decided case by case. We don’t offer same-day or rush bookings.
