The park itself
City Park holds the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Ferril Lake and Duck Lake, and a historic boathouse. The City Park Golf Course is just north. Henry Meryweather drew the park’s first layout in 1882, in the English pastoral tradition. Later, City Beautiful additions brought the gateways and the Thatcher Memorial Fountain, and landscape architect S.R. DeBoer shaped the park for decades. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
