Hampden is a southeast Denver neighborhood bounded by Yale Avenue on the north, Hampden Avenue on the south, I-25 on the west and Havana Street on the east. Monaco Parkway runs through the middle. Much of it was built in the 1960s and 1970s, when families were looking for newer houses with bigger yards, so ranch and split-level homes on generous lots are common, along with townhome and condo communities. Bible Park and the green spine
James A. Bible Park, named for a longtime Denver Parks and Recreation employee, is the heart of the neighborhood. It has athletic fields, courts, a big playground and walking paths, and the High Line Canal Trail and Goldsmith Gulch trail both pass through it. Other parks inside the neighborhood include Hampden Heights Park, Hentzel Park and Babi Yar Memorial Park, a Holocaust memorial with a landscaped path in the shape of the Star of David. The 27-hole Kennedy Golf Course is just to the east, and the private Cherry Creek Country Club is nearby.
With that much green space, homes here tend to see:
- Canal-trail dirt from walks, runs and bike rides, landing on entry tile and hallway carpet.
- Split-level stairs with short flights between levels. Handrails, landings and stair edges collect dust, and we clean them every visit.
- Yard debris from big lots with mature trees, especially at patio doors in fall.
Commuting from Hampden
Hampden is a commuter-friendly spot. I-25 runs along the west edge, and the Yale and Southmoor light rail stations are just off the interstate. The Denver Tech Center is a short drive south, and the Hampden and Havana intersection has grocery stores, restaurants and everyday shopping. With commutes and school schedules, a lot of households here would rather not spend weekends catching up on housework, which is where recurring service helps most.
