Clear Creek runs east and then northeast through the city, and the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt follows it with roughly 300 acres of open space. The paved Clear Creek Trail connects Denver to Golden along the water, passing small lakes such as West Lake, Tabor Lake and Prospect Lake. Anderson Park sits on the trail and has hosted the Carnation Festival every August since 1969. South of the creek, Crown Hill Lake and Kestrel Pond are favorite walking spots.

For shopping and dining, Ridge at 38 is the city’s Main Street along West 38th Avenue, with The Green at 38th as a gathering space. For rail, RTD’s G Line opened in 2019, and its last stop is Wheat Ridge·Ward station, about 11 miles from Denver Union Station.
