Old town, new downtown

Westminster’s south end is its oldest part. Near 83rd Avenue and Federal Boulevard stands Westminster Castle, built for the Pillar of Fire church and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Farther north, the city rebuilt the site of its old mall as Downtown Westminster, a roughly 105-acre district with homes, shops, an Alamo Drafthouse and the Origin Hotel.

Housing across the city ranges from established single-family streets in south Westminster to newer subdivisions and townhome communities to the north and west. Some patterns come up again and again in our cleaning notes:

• Two-story family homes have their busiest spots in the kitchen and main-floor family room, with bathrooms upstairs. Biweekly visits keep both floors under control.
• Townhomes and condos near US-36 often come with HOA rules, visitor parking and entry codes. Include them when you request a quote.
• Open-space lots near trails and golf courses get wind-blown dust on sills, patio doors and floors.

Lakes, trails and rail

Standley Lake Regional Park, near 100th Avenue and Simms Street, surrounds a lake of about 1,063 acres that’s popular for boating. Swimming isn’t allowed. The Big Dry Creek Trail runs about 12 miles across the city and has been a National Recreation Trail since 2003. The US-36 bikeway links Westminster with Boulder, and golfers can choose among Legacy Ridge, The Heritage at Westmoor and Walnut Creek.

Commuters use Westminster Station on RTD’s B Line, which opened in 2016 and runs to Denver Union Station. The Little Dry Creek Trail passes next to it. Between longer commutes and weekend trail time, a lot of households would rather have the cleaning taken care of on a set schedule.
